Okay so quick review of the campaign aspects of the Halo: Master Chief Collection, since the rest of the game is a giant mess lol So to all non-Halo fans who don’t care for my Halo blogs, abandon all hope ye who read on from here.

The accessibility of all the numbered Halo campaigns and multiplayers is really fun. Like, I thought it was a cool idea when it was announced but in actually playing it, I can tell you its a treat for any Halo fan. The playlists created by 343 are creative and cool takes on marathoning the series. However, they had promised custom playlists for the campaigns, and its gonna be a big mark against them for me if they’re just not going to acknowledge that and put it in as promised.

The special Halo 2 Anniversary multiplayer is really neat. The maps are pretty, as expected. The forge is where I’ve spent most my multiplayer time (not like I have a choice, the matchmaking is still down lol) and its definitely what I’ve wanted out of a forge mode. The ability to add terrain in blank canvases unlocks unlimited possibilities. I hope to see this even more advanced in Halo 5: Guardians next year.

The main treat for any Halo lore junkie like myself is Halo 2 Anniversary, particularly the cutscenes. As a fan of good CGI, its amazing. Amazing isn’t even the right word for it. I am blinded by its majesty.┬áParalyzed, DUMB-STRUCK, so much so that the humans were able to evade my ships, land on the sacred ring and DESECRATE IT WITH THEIR FILTHY FOOTSTEPS.

I’ve only briefly touched each of the other campaigns, all of which look extra pretty running on 1080p at 60FPS. Halo 4 looks like it was developed for new-gen all along. Halo 1 and Halo 3 are about at the same level of detail in their campaigns. Both have in-engine cutscenes, where as Halo 2 and Halo 4 have these spectacular CGI cutscenes, so its a little weird switching between the games.

The anniversary treatments have been great, but I hope they don’t bother with a Halo 3 anniversary. We have all the games on one collection in the current generation. So I say they should leave this masterpiece of a collection as is and stay focused on new stuff.

So yeah, as you can imagine, I’ve had lots of comic ideas from playing Halo, and have written them all down. However, as you can see, this story arc is kinda picking up. I’ve been building this up since September, and I think it’s past a point where it’s appropriate to interrupt it until its conclusion. Its already the longest running story arc and no where near done, so yeah. I am going to do Halo comics and gags, I think I’ll just post them on Facebook, DeviantArt and in the blog of the comics, that way they can be enjoyed but not at the cost of interrupting the flow of the story. Its not like Destiny where I sort of worked it into the plotline, and even that slowed the story down haha though, its not out of character for Austin to make time for Halo during a crisis, as we all might recall…
