Hamilton
The stereotype of FFA high schoolers is that they’re incredibly dorky. And hey that’s true but only because everyone is dorky to some degree nowadays. But I mean if you consider the fact that the FFA kids welded complex objects and sometimes raised animals 5 times their size, and then sold those objects and animals for hella money, the FFA was probably the most badass club someone can join.
I was in FFA in high school on and off. Took a break when I made varsity on the football team but was active my senior year. Hella.
Anyways, you may recognize Hamilton from my old logo I had at the top right of the comic prior to the current one. I felt bad about replacing him so I figured he should just be a character in the story.

wait Hamilton is a miniature cow what

In my high school, new members of the FFA had to dye their hands green on the day they joined, and then the returning female members would see who was the fastest to catch a muddy pig to decide the (unofficial) Queen of the Club.
Later they would decide the (official) Queen of the FFA with hog tying, lasso throwing, horse saddling, horse shoeing, farmhouse-themed cake baking, and an evening gown competition. They left out the swimsuit portion in favor of who could do the best Daisy Dukes look though.
At least it was completely optional for the girls to compete, but it was mandatory for the rest of the student body to watch the events and then vote. This included that gods-long intro by the FFA leaders with the “My station is by the ear of corn, meaning I value blah blah blah” and “my station is by the rooster, meaning blah blah”.
(I really, REALLY wish I was making some of this up.)
Wow was your school like really focused on its FFA program? haha my school was very sports centered. But nothing was ever mandatory for the entire student body haha I mean other than homecoming rallies but who’s going to say no to missing class? haha
It was just “FFA Week” when the school board pretended it cared about something besides sports and decided that it would try to make the students pretend to care, too.
Though there was one teacher I tried taking a class from and had to drop because it was a requirement to join FFA or she would not pass you. (It was a math class, too, so there’s GOT to be something against school law about that, but w/e she got fired my senior year anyway)
Wow you Americans take your high school clubs seriously. Heck, I don’t think my high school even had clubs, just the sports teams and music really. Mind you I went to a teeny tiny high school. But even university clubs weren’t that serious haha.
Meester Pepper is an oddity I assure you
Future Farmers of America in a rural farming community. A natural fit.
To be fair, everything the FFA did was “FFA Week” and was generally ignored by the non-FFA members the remainder of the year, where everyone’s focus was on football or basketball.
Haha well if you’re referring to anything in my writing, I’m basing a lot of the clubs off of college experience. BUT FFA members in high school, at least the kids who did strictly that, took it very seriously. But like I said they made money doing it so like who wouldn’t take that seriously? haha I made like $1500 selling a second-year heifer my sophomore year.
ok…just asking ion case I missed something but WHY IS AUSTIN IN A TRASH CAN?!
Is he “Austin the Grouch”?
He was stalking Leslie <.<
Well let’s just hope Brian can snap him out of it.
