Gas Mask And Sunny
Gas Mask and Sunny giving good advice? Nah can’t be. This must be an hallucination.
But Gas Mask and Sunny were already hallucinations, so its an hallucination of an hallucination. Which is like a negative and a negative which makes a positive. So for this moment, and this moment only, Gas Mask and Sunny are not figments of Austin’s mind but actually real living breathing creatures.
What.
So is Austin aware of what Gas mask says? And can he control what they turn into or are they always Sunny and Gas Mask? =O
It’s entirely within Austin’s head, but he’s not able to control what they say, do or appear as. It’s like schizophrenia, where the brain is creating the illusion but its a part of the brain that is entirely out of control of the schizophrenic.
I guess I just outed Austin as a schizophrenic. Oops.
He might not be schizophrenic. He could be a meth addict. Or under the influence of one of Tony’s experiments. Or under the influence of one of the mysterious-and-totally-not-influenced-by-Organization-XIII-at-all coalition’s experiment. Or an ancient, all-powerful force of the world is attempting to communicate with him but is taking a form that (it thinks) won’t drive him insane. Or everyone else in the school could be perfectly aware of Sunny and Gasmask’s existence, but a malevolent entity is forcing them to keep the truth from Austin for nefarious purposes. It could be an elaborate prank from Ashlee. Or, at lunch, he keeps getting brownies from the stoners.
