# DairyBoy Comics! > Home to "Austin's Inferno" ## AHHHHHHHHHHHH URL: https://dairyboycomics.com/2023/09/27/ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh/ I AM DETERMINED --- ## NEW WEBSITE URL: https://dairyboycomics.com/2020/05/14/new-website/ With the launching of this brand new website came lots of new stuff to make your comic reading experience even better! To make it easier to find what is new, I’ve compiled it all into this nifty little update. WEBSITE STUFF Reorganized archive! – Long gone is that awful long list of every single comic with no other description other than its title (which I’m pretty sure broke a few years ago and I just removed it entirely). All comics have been grouped together into “chapters”. From each chapter you can look through an overview of all of the pages, start reading from the first page of the chapter, or skip to where story arcs within that chapter start. If you fancy just looking through every single comic indiscriminate of the series it is a part of or the chapters within, you can view it that way also. I’ve built out a search engine to make sorting through the archive significantly easier. Remember a specific comic featuring Bryan, where the theme was Halo, published sometime in 2015? YOU CAN LOOK THAT UP EXACTLY. Other filters include the exact month the comic was published, as well as series and chapter it is a part of. If you remember a keyword that was in the name of the comic, or a topic I discussed in the blog attached to said comic, there is a keyword field for such keywords! Character Bios – I’ve significantly expanded how many characters have bios. From each bio you can jump to comics featuring that character. I have also hidden various easter eggs throughout the website. Have fun looking. COMIC STUFF I’ve done a major overhaul of a lot of the older comics. The original comics started out WAY too wordy, so I’ve cleaned up the dialogue significantly. As well as (hopefully) improved the general humor. I’ve also removed any comics I felt didn’t fit in with the series, felt a little too insidery, weren’t really funny or were funny but just not used at the right time and can be reused at a better time. My hope is that the series starts out a little less shitty for new readers. If you realize I axed a comic you truly cared about, I may not be against bringing it back so just let me know and I’ll consider it. And last but not least, NEW COMICS! That’s right, various comics got art overhauls, and some story arcs got deleted scenes added in, as well as alternate endings. Political Editorials that had their art overhauled to look like actual political editorials: Difference Brainwashing MOAR Politics Alternate endings: Skirmish – Pg. 12 – (MeesterPepper convinced me to make this change) At Peace – In the Football scrimmage story arc, I decided that Austin simply pulling off a successful block against Big Mike was too easily earned. So, I came up with a different ending for that scene. ENTIRELY NEW COMICS Hats – I had always intended to do this gag with these characters but somehow completely forgot to do so before I officially retired them, so they got one more comic in! Warthog Run – A deleted scene from the election story arc. Angry Mob – Second page of that deleted scene Something Halo This Way Comes – More info on this later, but for now enjoy preview cover art. And that’s all of the new stuff! Between all the new comics and overhauled older comics, I hope that there’s plenty of new content to make up for the insanely long hiatus this new website required of me. I had actually cut a significant amount of stuff I intended to have finished before launch in order to make move the launch date up, so here are my ideas for phase 2 of the website: More search filters More character bios New cover art for every single chapter More Easter Eggs --- ## Update 4/11: Sorry for the long absence URL: https://dairyboycomics.com/2019/04/11/update-4-11-sorry-for-the-long-absence/ So, I kinda fell off the map for a bit :/ Basically, shortly after my last update, a series of shitty things happened to me. The specifics aren’t fun to share, the one I’m most open to talking about is someone attempted to steal my truck. They failed, but did over a grand in damage to it in the process. Anyways. Because of that and a bunch of other things, I’ve fallen into a depression and have been there for almost a month now. Wonder Con was a nice reprieve, where this cool pic of me in my Chief armor with an actual Elite cosplay was taken. Since then I’ve been trying to get back on top of things but keep failing and keep falling deeper and deeper into this pit. I just wanted to let anyone checking in know that I am okay, I mean, relatively okay. And I am constantly thinking about this comic. I have not nor will I abandon this passion. And I just want to be open with any of my fans about where I’m at and why things are so slow. Sorry again. I’m trying my best, and I hope that it’ll be enough to get back on track. --- ## HCS / Wonder Con 2017 URL: https://dairyboycomics.com/2017/04/06/hcs-wonder-con-2017/ In previous years I have always followed up my various con outings by sharing some photos from the events, and this year shall be no different! With my attempting a cosplay centered blog, I figured this would be the perfect place to continue that tradition! Last weekend I was in awesome Anaheim CA for Wonder Con, but only one weekend before that I was down in Burbank CA for the Halo Championship Series! So we’ll start there with that adventure. The HCS was held at the ESL headquarters in Burbank, and 343 Industries reached out to my cosplay friends in need of Halo costumers to attend the event! We made our way there to show off our costumes and watch some badasses remind me just how terrible at Halo I actually am! There were also lots of cool prizes and free food! Here’s some cool pictures from the weekend. An exciting weekend, to be sure. My friend Ian of MilworX was also there showing off his decked out 343 Guilty Spark! Here’s a video of the beautiful creation in action! While the upgraded light up and talking version of the replica is currently a personal project of his, you can purchase just the Guilty Spark replica itself from his website right now! Its my understand that at least the lighting will eventually be an upgrade you can get for the Spark, but even without those features, they are pretty damn awesome. I helped him build the V1 Spark back during Comic Con 2016. The fateful corner of the Hyatt parking garage where the Monitor was born. Pictured are Ian (left) and Alec (right) doing magic stuff to create one of the parts. Quite a learning experience! And like I said, he is selling them. You can own one. They are amazing. Also give him a like on Facebook! One week after the HCS came Wonder Con! This was our cosplay group’s first run under our new group name, Anvil Station! The weekend was full of exciting new adventures and discoveries. Here are some shots from the event! That’s all for this update, hope you enjoyed! Check back next friday for the next Austin’s Inferno update! --- ## UPDATE 10/7 URL: https://dairyboycomics.com/2018/10/07/update-10-7/ HEY!! It’s been a hot minute since I’ve hopped back on here to give everyone an update on things. The site is actually coming along nicely. My work has hooked me up with some cool resources (such as better hosting lol) as well as a better WordPress theme to build the site with. So I’m transferring all the functionality I’ve built so far into the new theme and squashing any bugs that pop up in doing so. I’m currently making a push to take care of myself more, both physically and mentally. I’m getting into more outdoor activities and looking into options like Better Help. I think 2019 will be a good year for me and my comic. I just need to keep working here and setting the year up for that. I thought up a comic I really want to make so I’ll try to post that before October is up. Will try to get that to you guys ASAP! --- ## Series Overview URL: https://dairyboycomics.com/series-overview/ [et_pb_image src=”https://dairyboycomics.com/wp-content/webpc-passthru.php?src=https://dairyboycomics.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/ai-logo-2.png&nocache=1″ url=”/archive/?title=austins-inferno” admin_label=”Austin’s Inferno” _builder_version=”4.16″ custom_margin=”||25px||false|false” global_colors_info=”{}”] About Austin’s Inferno A taco-snacking classroom-slacking Halo obsessed high schooler attempts to live some sort of normal life as his journalist classmates uncover the weirdness of the world around them. I made the decision to rebuild my site in 2016, after I become a web developer by trade and decided my passion project deserved a little love on the website side of things. I started building this thing that year. And then there were hiccups. Sooooo many hiccups. Some involving the website, some involving my life. I mean, four years ago later, I am not even remotely the same person I was back then, in a lot of good ways that I’m very proud of. I did my best to balance continuing the comic and working on the site, but quickly learned I was not very good at that either. It was hard for me to decide to put the comic on hiatus, mostly because I have followed several comics that needed to go on hiatus to finish a separate project, and I know what happens. The other project ends up taking way longer to complete than anticipated. I knew it was unlikely I would be any different, and how right I was lol I made a detailed post HERE going over all the stuff I’ve built for this site, as well as all kinds of new comic content, so feel free to check that out. There was so much more I wanted to have ready to go when this new site launched, but with things being the way they are right now, I decided what matters most to me is making comics again. I’ve split up the next phases of the site’s development into smaller bite sized chunks that won’t require me halting any comic creation. I am happy to be at this point though. And with all the weirdness happening in the world, I think I really needed to return to this. It’s a comfort for me. I hope it is for you, too. First off check out this here guest comic by my friend who goes by Urchin Roll on Instagram. It’s funny because I actually had Vegan tacos the other day and they hit the spot pretty well. So a few weeks ago my computer broke. I tried to fix it on my own and failed so I had to wait to return to San Diego. It’s currently being worked on by my boss. I’m thinking I can maybe get a few more months out of the old thing and then upgrade to a better machine that would be a good one to play Infinite on! I wanted to spend this time working on the next story arc. But I’m hitting this wall right now. Everything I write just doesn’t feel good enough. I’m in a tough place and struggling to decide where I want this comic to go. Forgive me as I try to sort this out. I feel like I am not at my best here and tbh I haven’t been at my best for a long time. You all deserve better and I’m working to that as best I can. What’s up? So I made this website to have a place I could collect any sort of projects I work on related to comics. Primarily there is my web-comic Austin’s Inferno. I also have a diary comic about making Halo cosplay called Anvil Station Stories, and some other stuff in the works. And of course, the most important thing I’ve ever done, my Shrek Souls fan art. [et_pb_text admin_label=”Why the name “DairyBoy Comics”?” _builder_version=”4.0.3″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat”] Why the name “DairyBoy Comics”? I grew up on a dairy farm. That’s pretty much all that inspired the name lol [et_pb_text admin_label=”What is your posting schedule?” _builder_version=”4.0.3″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat”] What is your posting schedule? Austin’s Inferno currently posts around once a week, usually on Fridays. On occasion, story arcs will be completed ahead of time and posted more frequently. Anvil Station Stories updates once a month. Shrek Souls fan art happens upon inspiration. One simply does not force real art into the world before it is ready. [et_pb_text admin_label=”What is Austin’s Inferno about?” _builder_version=”4.0.3″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat”] What is Austin’s Inferno about? Austin’s Inferno is about a small town high school where weird shit happens. Yeah I know that doesn’t sound very original BUT the lead character is a kind of goof ball who gets into all sorts of trouble but at the end of every episode he sets things right. NO OKAY yeah that doesn’t sound that unique BUT WAIT he is a gamer and he has a best friend who is also a gamer and they talk about video games and all sorts of nerdy things. Shit okay maybe that’s been done before, but the lead character is based on myself and is loosely based on my life growing up. DAMN IT WHAT DO YOU MEAN THAT’S ALSO BEEN DONE BEFORE?? SHIT ASS SHIT. Ultimately the comic is about a taco-snacking classroom-slacking Halo obsessed high schooler attempting to live some sort of normal life as his journalist classmates uncover the weirdness of the world around them. And sometimes a robot tyrannosaurus rex shows up. [et_pb_text admin_label=”How do you make your comic?” _builder_version=”4.0.3″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat”] How do you make your comic? Photoshop and Illustrator, with a Wacom tablet named Cindy! [et_pb_text admin_label=”How long does each comic take to make?” _builder_version=”4.0.3″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat”] How long does each comic take to make? Depends. If the script is already written, I can usually have it done in about three to four hours. Script writing can take the bulk time and if I’m working from scratch, it can add anywhere between an hour to four hours to the process. Because of this I like to write up as many scripts as I can ahead of time. [et_pb_text admin_label=”Why the name “Austin’s Inferno”?” _builder_version=”4.0.3″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat”] Why the name “Austin’s Inferno”? The comic actually started off a sort of diary comic back in high school where I poked fun at various friends and events going on around campus. It was run on the school paper and was my first taste of doing comics. Back then it was called “Our Average High School Lives”. Not a very creative name, but I’m not a very creative person. After I graduated, foiling President Obama’s plans of stopping me from entering society, I decided to give the whole web-comic thing a spin. The first thing I actually wanted to do was a parody of the 2010 video game “Dante’s Inferno”. But I had been sitting on long form story that I became pretty inspired to go forward with, so I scrapped the parody but kept the title. Thus we ended up with “Austin’s Inferno”. [et_pb_text admin_label=”Is Austin’s Inferno based on real events?” _builder_version=”4.0.3″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat”] Is Austin’s Inferno based on real events? Nope. While it’s similar to other diary comics such as the fantastic Beefpaper in that a good number of lead characters are based on myself and some friends, the stories are entirely fictional. All villains are fictional. The setting, Easton CA, while a place you can look up on a map, has been re-imagined to a point that it itself is pretty fictional also. If I could go back, I’d probably make all the characters fictional too, or at least swap out the names with made up ones. But I’ve also become pretty attached to them, outside of the fact that the central cast is based on people I knew in high school, as they have developed into their own characters over time. [et_pb_text admin_label=”Why the name “Anvil Station Stories”?” _builder_version=”4.0.3″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat”] Why the name “Anvil Station Stories”? The Halo cosplay club I am a part of is called Anvil Station. Then I added “Stories” to the title because I wanted the initials to spell ASS. You can learn more about how to become an Anvil Station Spartan, also ASS for short, on the Anvil Station website. [et_pb_text admin_label=”Any other comic ideas planned?” _builder_version=”4.0.3″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat”] Any other comic ideas planned? I have something in the works right now. Stay tuned. [et_pb_text admin_label=”Why so many Halo references and plot lines in the comic?” _builder_version=”4.0.3″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat”] Why so many Halo references and plot lines in the comic? An original goal was to make Halo comics. At the time of starting the comic, 343’s community manager would share Halo themed comics and I was inspired to contribute to this. I ended up having quite a few shared! Because of this, a decent number of my fans are from the Halo fandom, so I get to enjoy making the occasional Halo themed comic from time to time. (Most of the time [Like a whole lot of the time {As much as is creatively possible with a little shoehorning}]). [et_pb_text admin_label=”Who made your website?” _builder_version=”4.4.5″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat” hover_enabled=”0″] Who made your website? My friend Tony has edited many of the comics to make sure my English and spelling isn’t shitty. He comments regularly as “mitspeiler” on the site. Give him a shout, he’s a pretty cool guy. [et_pb_text admin_label=”Your comic sucks.” _builder_version=”4.0.3″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat”] Your comic sucks. Yep. [et_pb_text admin_label=”Why do you censor the F-word with FRONK?” _builder_version=”4.0.3″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat”] Why do you censor the F-word with FRONK? I’m not squeamish about cursing. I have nothing against the word [FRONK]. I just think censoring it that way makes it funnier every time I would otherwise just use the word [FRONK]. I use FRONK specifically because a friend one time meant to say [FRONK] but shouted FRONK instead. It was really [FRONK]ing hilarious. [et_pb_text admin_label=”Is there a ship you support?” _builder_version=”4.0.3″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat”] Is there a ship you support? [et_pb_text admin_label=”Are you trying to monetize your comic?” _builder_version=”4.0.3″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat”] Are you trying to monetize your comic? Not really. The ads occasionally help me cover the cost of hosting. I have a day job that I actually really love and even if I could make some money from doing web-comics, I’d probably still keep working on my career. A few comic friends have suggested doing a patreon, but that’s an adventure for another day. I will never put a price on creating Shrek Souls fan art. [et_pb_text admin_label=”Do you go to Comic Conventions?” _builder_version=”4.0.6″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat”] Do you go to Comic Conventions? Yes I do! Wonder Con and San Diego Comic Con would be the two big ones that I prioritize. But you might catch me at a few others in LA from time to time, or smaller ones in San Diego. If you are ever at the same con as me, keep an eye out for a Master Chief or Darth Revan cosplayer. But ask to make sure it is me before kicking the person, lots of other people cosplay Master Chief and Revan. [et_pb_text admin_label=”How’d you get into cosplay?” _builder_version=”4.0.3″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat”] How’d you get into cosplay? I plan to cover that whole adventure in the Anvil Stations Stories comics. To sum it up, I gave it a shot one year at SDCC and made a bunch of fantastic friends because of it. There was no going back. [et_pb_text admin_label=”Will you play video games with me?” _builder_version=”4.0.3″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat”] Will you play video games with me? I am trying to make community play dates a thing. It’s very difficult at this time *sad face*. I have a super tight schedule between work and maintaining the comic. I do have time for video games but I’m a bit of a single player kind of person and am super introverted, so I tend to focus on beating whatever single player game I am working on when I do play. But making time for a quick match in Halo is super doable, so if that’s what you fancy then go ahead and add my gamertag! DairyBoy117 I also enjoy Star Wars: The Old Republic if that’s of interest to anyone. [et_pb_text admin_label=”What are your thoughts on the current political state of our country?” _builder_version=”4.0.3″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat”] What are your thoughts on the current political state of our country? That wasn’t my question.” _builder_version=”4.0.3″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat”] What? That wasn’t my question. Link you to the episode? [et_pb_text admin_label=”None of this has anything to do with my question.” _builder_version=”4.0.3″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat”] None of this has anything to do with my question. WHICH CHARACTER DID I PLAY YOU ASK? Why I was none other than Tucker! Bow chicka wow wow. I mean it was a stunt double on the motor cycle scene and the shot jumping away from the grenade, but every other shot including the one with the big explosion was me. Fun fact, the Master Chief suit I built was made with the same files that were used to create the Tucker suit from that episode! [et_pb_text admin_label=”Favorite video game?” _builder_version=”4.0.3″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat”] Favorite video game? Nancy Drew. Favorite campaign, and countless custom games memories. I also liked Halo 3: ODST a lot because you got to feel like a detective, just like Nancy Drew. Granted, I love any given episode of the Nancy Drew video game series leaps and bounds more than every Halo combined. [et_pb_text admin_label=”Do you prefer Bungie or 343?” _builder_version=”4.0.3″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat”] Do you prefer Bungie or 343? Both studios know how to make a good multiplayer, but I feel like Bungie had story telling down a bit more. In the end it’s all for fun and giggles so I try not to get caught up in the aspects of fandoms over-critiquing creators, as difficult as that can be sometimes. I do however still believe criticism should be delivered in a way that is professional and understanding so that you can see things improve the way you want them to. It’s all irrelevant because Halo is hot garbage compared to Nancy Drew. [et_pb_text admin_label=”Do you read any of the Halo novels?” _builder_version=”4.0.3″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat”] Do you read any of the Halo novels? I’m a pretty big fan of Dark Souls, considering it’s 100% undeniable fact that it takes place in the same universe as Shrek. Shrek Souls as a video game would be the only thing I would love more than Nancy Drew. Verburg spent most his day sitting on his porch playing his banjo, drinking moonshine, and spitting into his spittoon. Occasionally he’d shoot at the unsuspecting passerby who came too far near Verburg’s vicinity. Robert Rose, long time friends of Verburg’s who was just coming over to borrow a cup of flour was immediately shot and left to die. “So like, you’re going to take me to a hospital after you finish this interview, right?” Rose asked. “Please, I’ve been here for days.” Verburg shot at anyone who tried to help Rose, so you can imagine how that turned out. After a failed career at being a professional whittler selling carvings of his favorite movie Shrek, specifically on Blu-Ray, Austin decided to instead get into making comics. “I’m like one of them there guys who put them cartoonies in the newspaper,” said Verburg, as he paused to spit out a wad of tobacco, “‘Cept I don’t gots no newspapers to put thems in.” Eventually Verburg got a dial-up internet connection, which introduced him to the modern world. He is now working on purchasing a VHS. He currently lives in San Diego, CA. where he develops websites for a living. However, he longs to return to the mountains where he can chew tobacco and drink homemade moonshine. I mean, he can do that in San Diego but it’s just not the same. --- ## Friends URL: https://dairyboycomics.com/friends-of-dbc/ [et_pb_text admin_label=”Friends of DairyBoy Comics” _builder_version=”4.0.6″ header_text_color=”#ffffff”] Friends of DairyBoy Comics [et_pb_text admin_label=”Check out these awesome comics!” _builder_version=”4.0.6″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat”] Don’t miss out on any of these awesome comics or else you will be considered a loser ahhahahahahahahahahahah Jane come back I love you [et_pb_image src=”https://dairyboycomics.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/been-better.jpg” alt=”Been Better” title_text=”Been Better” url=”http://beenbettercomic.com/” url_new_window=”on” admin_label=”Been Better” _builder_version=”4.0.6″] [et_pb_image src=”https://dairyboycomics.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/BF_SiteBanner.jpg” alt=”Bubble Fox” title_text=”Bubble Fox” url=”http://bubblefox.webcomic.ws/” url_new_window=”on” admin_label=”Bubble Fox” _builder_version=”4.0.6″] [et_pb_image src=”https://dairyboycomics.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/emokid.jpg” alt=”Cheer Up Emo Kid” title_text=”Cheer Up Emo Kid” url=”https://cheerupemokid.com/” url_new_window=”on” admin_label=”Cheer Up Emo Kid” _builder_version=”4.0.6″] [et_pb_image src=”https://dairyboycomics.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/HIT.jpg” alt=”HIT – Hero Institute of Technology” title_text=”HIT – Hero Institute of Technology” url=”http://hit-comic.com/” url_new_window=”on” admin_label=”HIT – Hero Institute of Technology” _builder_version=”4.0.6″] [et_pb_image src=”https://dairyboycomics.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Invisible-Bread.jpg” alt=”Invisible Bread” title_text=”Invisible Bread” url=”http://invisiblebread.com/” url_new_window=”on” admin_label=”Invisible Bread” _builder_version=”4.0.6″] [et_pb_image src=”https://dairyboycomics.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/MBbanner8.jpg” alt=”Mystery Babylon” title_text=”Mystery Babylon” url=”http://www.kick-girl.com/” url_new_window=”on” admin_label=”Mystery Babylon” _builder_version=”4.0.6″] [et_pb_image src=”https://dairyboycomics.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Rock-Paper-Cynic.jpg” alt=”Rock Paper Cynic” title_text=”Rock Paper Cynic” url=”https://www.rockpapercynic.com/” url_new_window=”on” admin_label=”Rock Paper Cynic” _builder_version=”4.0.6″] [et_pb_image src=”https://dairyboycomics.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Shen-Comix.jpg” alt=”Shen Comix” title_text=”Shen Comix” url=”https://www.instagram.com/shencomix/” url_new_window=”on” admin_label=”Shen Comix” _builder_version=”4.0.6″] [et_pb_image src=”https://dairyboycomics.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Webcomic-Factory.jpg” alt=”The Webcomic Factory” title_text=”The Webcomic Factory” url=”http://www.thewebcomicfactory.com/” url_new_window=”on” admin_label=”The Webcomic Factory” _builder_version=”4.0.6″] [et_pb_image src=”https://dairyboycomics.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Zombie-Boy.jpg” alt=”Zombie Boy Comics” title_text=”Zombie Boy Comics” url=”https://www.zombieboycomics.com/” url_new_window=”on” admin_label=”Zombie Boy Comics” _builder_version=”4.0.6″] [et_pb_text admin_label=”If you’d like to link me:” _builder_version=”4.0.6″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat”] If you’d like to link me (You know, only if you want to. As such, Adam gains super powers when on the field. He has high hopes to take the team to state championships before he graduates. --- ## Zsa’Kith URL: https://dairyboycomics.com/characters/zsakith/ A foreign exchange student learning what life is like in small-town America. Zsa’Kith knows how to liven up any dull occasion and quickly became the most popular kid in school. A stranger to no one, he managed to become the school’s resident cool kid despite barely being on his first semester at Washington Union. While he considered ending his foreign exchange program early to return home, he realized how much he enjoyed life here and made the decision to stay. While the student body normally greets people foreign to their small town with hostility, Zsa’Kith’s natural charisma immediately won everyone over and he became universally accepted. He has won student of the month every single month he has attended Washington Union because of his helpful nature and kind attitude. Zsa’Kith plans to go into Ag Business after he graduates high school. --- ## Zack URL: https://dairyboycomics.com/characters/zack/ The fifth ranking member of the LotLH. Zack finds their mission mostly annoying, likely having his own ideas on how to accomplish it that are altogether ignored. --- ## Violet URL: https://dairyboycomics.com/characters/violet/ One of Austin and Bryan’s friends in the school Gamer’s Club. Violet enjoys being playful with Bryan. --- ## Tracey URL: https://dairyboycomics.com/characters/tracey/ Bryan’s badass older sister. Tracey runs the FFA program at Washington Union, a rewarding adventure where she benefits helping younger students learn the values of hard work and responsibility. Also she gets paid for the gig. A farm girl to the core, Tracey is all about hard work and no nonsense, opposite Austin who is all about laziness and pure nonsense. This would not be a problem except for the fact that Austin joined the FFA. It’s gone about as well as you would expect it to. While Austin annoys the shit out of Tracey, she is accepting of her little brother’s choice of friend. She allows Austin to stay a part of the FFA so long as he continues to improve as a member of society, which has actually been somewhat successful. Tracey has a cow named Kidd and a bull calf named Hamilton. When she isn’t working on the school farm, Tracey likes to geek out with her brother. --- ## Tori URL: https://dairyboycomics.com/characters/tori/ The Washington Hatchet’s photography editor. She is the daughter of the school paper’s adviser, Mrs. Rich. Tori has an incredible ability of recovering from any number of physical demises, most as of late related to being lit on fire by Austin whenever he gets nervous around her. Despite this, the two have developed a friendship and Austin tries really hard not to light her on fire, though this tends to happen anyways due to a possible crush. She is a dedicated athlete and is on the softball and volleyball teams. Although she is not a gamer, she is significantly better at Halo than Austin. Tori just writes off her ability to survive almost anything as random cartoon shenanigans. And that is probably true. --- ## Tony URL: https://dairyboycomics.com/characters/tony/ The Hatchet’s distinguished columnist and copy editor who provides insight and intellect, and occasionally mad scientist type shit. Tony’s omnipresent personality may creep out some of his classmates, but he acts as a first line of defense against some of the weird threats the town encounters. Tony built Austin, Bryan and the rest of the Hatchet editors weapons of their choice, while providing them training. Tony has a strong attachment to his small-town home of Easton and is actively trying to root out a cult of foreign invaders who are threatening to destroy it. His favorite food is chocolate pudding. He can usually be found doing science stuff or engaged in eternal combat with his arch nemesis Battle T-Rex. --- ## Thunder Moo URL: https://dairyboycomics.com/characters/thunder-moo/ Easton’s resident super hero. Her secret identity is Tracey’s FFA cow Kidd. Thunder Moo got her powers when Austin accidentally fed her super-powered corn that specifically gives powers to cows. She attempts to use her super powers to fight crime, but there is an unfortunate side effect to this: the existence of actual super heroes causes humanity to go insane and quickly collapse into a super hero vs. super villain conflict where everyone takes sides. It’s really cool but it kind of causes the end of the world. Thunder Moo, being a cow, is immune to this effect and thus can help prevent it when such an event occurs. Tony prefers to only allow Thunder Moo to have her powers when it is absolutely necessary, but Thunder Moo secretly keeps a small amount of powers just in case. --- ## The Cashier URL: https://dairyboycomics.com/characters/the-cashier/ The Cashier is one of the employees at McTuckey Fried Tacos. As a member of the food service industry, his job primarily consists of being abused and harassed by the customers he serves. Austin, who loves McTuckey Fried Tacos, regularly visits to his annoyance. Austin tends to take a long time figuring out what he wants to order, holding up the line and upsetting everyone else in the restaurant, which gets taken out on the Cashier. He has a sister who goes to Washington Union. --- ## Spencer URL: https://dairyboycomics.com/characters/spencer/ The second ranking member of the LotLH. Spencer is the right hand to the leader, and takes great joy in their mission. He is a relentless assassin with the skill to bring down any opponent. --- ## Mrs. Rich URL: https://dairyboycomics.com/characters/mrs-rich/ The Hatchet’s adviser who works day and night to teach her students about journalism, on top of important life lessons about integrity, maturity, hard work, and not lighting her daughter Tori on fire. The last one doesn’t seem to click with Austin all the time. Mrs. Rich is determined to break Austin’s arrogant determination to be as lazy as possible and make something of him. She has sworn that this will be her final challenge, and upon completing it she shall retire. Maybe somewhere nice like a beach with a No Austin’s Allowed rule. When she isn’t teaching class or helping the Hatchet make deadline, she coaches Washington Union’s softball team. --- ## Miranda URL: https://dairyboycomics.com/characters/miranda/ The student body President and Editor-In-Chief of the Hatchet’s rival school paper, The Real Union. Miranda is hellbent on conquering the world and has learned the value in controlling information as a means to that end. When she couldn’t get the Hatchet to play along with her schemes, she simply founded her own publication. On occasion she finds herself endangered by the weird monsters and evil forces that attack Easton and works alongside the Hatchet staff to save the day, though she tends to conveniently forget those moments rather quickly. She likes to use dummies like Austin and Jacob to fulfill her goals. She keeps her best friend Abby on a tight leash. --- ## John URL: https://dairyboycomics.com/characters/john/ The Hatchet’s Views editor who speaks sarcasm fluently. He enjoys picking on his best friend Ashlee. John wasted no time getting his license and a vehicle, which everyone definitely utilizes. John gets reluctantly dragged into Ashlee’s online video game quests. While not a huge gamer, he is willing to play out of loyalty and friendship to Ashlee, even agreeing to use embarrassing character classes that help her gain perks and abilities, such as the sexually frustrated Bimmy Larp with all of the BDSM toys. You know, FOR KIDS. Under his cool guy front, there is much more the team doesn’t know about him. --- ## Jim the Security Guard URL: https://dairyboycomics.com/characters/jim-the-security-guard/ Washington Union’s security task force. Jim aids the school in defense against an army of savage wolves which want to eat all of the children. Jim enjoys eating sandwiches, and has mastered the craft of sandwich making. So much so that Austin cannot resist and has made a bad habit of helping himself to Jim’s delicious lunches. Jim has a Jim Gordon type relationship with the local superhero, Thunder Moo. --- ## Jesse URL: https://dairyboycomics.com/characters/jesse/ A student from Washington Union’s rival school, Sierra High. Jesse lives up in the mountains near Easton with his family. Jesse continuously finds himself on the receiving end of many of Washington Union’s pranks on his school, which almost always result in his phone being destroyed. As a result, he has sworn to personally destroy the city of Easton. On three occasions he has witnessed Christian and Jacob involved in the shenanigans that have resulted in his phone’s destruction, and so he has it out for those two in particular. Jesse has a little sister named Emily who is evil. --- ## Jacob URL: https://dairyboycomics.com/characters/jacob/ The Hatchet’s Sports editor. Jacob’s life revolves around sports, particularly playing starting center for Washington Union’s football team. Jacob is occasionally dragged into Austin’s shenanigans, which he fears may upset the head coach of the football team, his father. Jacob is highly competitive and brings out the same from Austin, creating a rivalry in the two’s activities. Jacob is ambitious and has a lot to prove. When he decides he wants to do something, he does it better than anyone else. --- ## Hamilton URL: https://dairyboycomics.com/characters/hamilton/ Tracey’s pet bull calf. Hamilton has to regularly be guarded so that mutant rats don’t eat him. That bell is way too big for him but he wears it anyways because size matters not. --- ## Gas Mask and Sunny URL: https://dairyboycomics.com/characters/gas-mask-and-sunny/ Random figments of Austin’s imagination, created by his brain as a response to his occasional desire to not play video games. Whenever Austin finds himself stressed out or hesitant to give in to his Halo obsessions, Gas Mask and Sunny appear to tell him that that’s stupid and that he should not do his homework and he should instead play Halo. Despite their existence revolving around Austin doing a thing that he enjoys, he actually finds them incredibly annoying and would prefer they go away. This is either because they are incredibly annoying, or because they are a sign of possible schizophrenia. Or both reasons. Both are pretty valid reasons. --- ## Emily URL: https://dairyboycomics.com/characters/emily/ Jesse’s evil little sister. Emily enjoys the torment of her older brother, especially watching his descent into madness as a series of bad pranks result in the continuous destruction of his cell phone (one of those occasions secretly being her fault). She also just enjoys the torment of other people in general. Except cats. She likes cats. --- ## Connor URL: https://dairyboycomics.com/characters/connor/ The fourth ranking member of the LotLH. While loyal to his team and focused on his mission, Connor’s only other focus in life is getting those gains. He doesn’t sleep with a blanket because he can just burn excess testosterone to stay warm. --- ## Christian URL: https://dairyboycomics.com/characters/christian/ Christian works and writes for the Hatchet, that much is certain. Beyond that his exact role is a mystery. Christian’s family has a long history in the town of Easton, thus Christian has a deep loyalty to the town’s rich yet bizarre traditions. As such, he is also dedicated to protecting Easton’s way of life and has joined Tony in his quest to protect it. He is an Anatidaephobic. --- ## Bryan URL: https://dairyboycomics.com/characters/bryan/ Austin’s reluctant best friend, brought together by their innate ability for causing destruction. Bryan acts as Austin’s guide through the hell known as Washington Union, and contributes to the Hatchet by writing stories and designing graphics. When not in school, Bryan and Austin enjoy playing any number of video games and coordinate console buying decisions so that the two will not miss out on any important titles. Despite his rigid and violent front, Bryan is quite compassionate for his friends’ well beings, though he’d prefer as few of them knew that as possible. --- ## Battle T-Rex URL: https://dairyboycomics.com/characters/battle-t-rex/ Rawr Rawr Rawr --- ## Austin URL: https://dairyboycomics.com/characters/austin/ A taco-snacking, classroom-slacking sophomore in high school whose life revolves around video games, especially Halo. Austin works on the Washington Hatchet school paper as the Entertainment section editor, where he mostly writes and runs stories about Halo. He has a tendency to disrupt day to day life with his antics, usually fueled by some sort of Halo related event. Mostly insecure about himself, he seeks out popularity as a solution through means such as playing football or trying to find a girlfriend, all of these things foiled by his obsession with Halo. While a bit of a fatiguing personality, he regularly works on improving himself with life lessons about responsibility and how Halo is awesome but not so awesome that it’s more important than putting out that fire you just started. No matter how badly he screws things up, he’s always willing to put in the work to make everything right again. Because Halo. --- ## Ashlee URL: https://dairyboycomics.com/characters/ashlee/ Ashlee is the Hatchet’s News Editor. During school hours, she is the spunky cheerleader of the group, providing a sense of kindness and childlike optimism. After school hours, she logs into her favorite MMO “Untitled Elder Scrolls Ripoff” where she is known as the Dark Matriarch, spreading death and destruction across the land in an effort to uncover the game’s darkest secrets and expose the corrupt forces behind it. She enjoys hanging out with her best friend John. --- ## No Time URL: https://dairyboycomics.com/comic/no-time/ Tony’s been MIA and it’s good to finally pull him out of hiding to start fixing the mess. Buying meth from a dealer would certainly cost more BUT if you make it yourself versus the cost of new costumes, maintaining your old costumes and of course travel to cosplay events (con tickets, hotels, eating out), we’re talking hundreds maybe even thousands saved depending on how hard a cosplayer you are. Added bonus, you can buy a lot of the stuff to make meth at the same places you would buy cosplay supplies. Also have you ever dated a cosplayer? We are very high maintenance people. Meth addicts are super simple, just get them that next fix, you know? You might get shanked once or twice but stab wounds heal much quicker than broken hearts. Don’t ask me why I know so much about cooking meth --- ## Inconspicuous URL: https://dairyboycomics.com/comic/inconspicuous/ Hey I guess it’s been a while so feel free to jump to the start of the story arc to refresh. If you want. --- ## Halo 20th Anniversary Fan Art URL: https://dairyboycomics.com/comic/halo-20th-anniversary-fan-art/ Yeah I know, I meant to finish this fan art ON the 20th anniversary but then they uh… released the Multiplayer early lol As I post this, we are all in anticipation for the new Halo. I can’t wait to play it and share all my thoughts. As far as the multiplayer goes, I was worried my comic about having to pay to change Master Chief’s color in Austin’s VR game would be a mostly dated joke by the time it posted, but now that the game is here and we are seeing just how bad it’s been monetized, I kinda feel like my previous comic wasn’t aggressive enough on them haha Anyways, I’d expect to start seeing comics from Act 2 start posting after New Years. Until then, a little context to this fan art: I’ve been long working on a parody series about Halo using my comic characters. Think Family Guy Star Wars but instead it’s Austin’s Inferno Halo. That’s basically what Halo PWNED is supposed to be. I wanted to have the first issue done this year for the 20th anniversary but like everything else in my life, that definitely didn’t happen lol The character casting you see here isn’t final. I’m thinking Captain Keyes may end up someone like Principal Campbell. Alberto I see much more in place as the Spec Ops Leader / Shipmaster from Halo 2 and 3 just because he’s unofficially the most metalhead Halo character ever, but as far as where that fits in Halo 1, where that character never officially appeared, I still need to sort out. But as far as this fan art goes, and just wanting to nod to the original Halo with my main cast, this casting works for me. Alberto was an easy one, I’ll let anyone who pops in for this update guess the others. --- ## Filler Art: Halo Infinite Human AI URL: https://dairyboycomics.com/comic/filler-art-halo-infinite-human-ai/ Heyo, sorry about the last week of missed deadline, I meant to get this filler art up but was in the middle of some big website projects. Things have calmed down a bit and I’m gonna start pushing to get pages posting again. In the meantime, here’s some Halo Infinite filler art! My favorite part about the multiplayer may well be the companion AI. While I have sad feelings about them replacing the traditional Halo announcer, I do enjoy having a sort of buddy to take into the battle. I’m excited to see what other AI they add to unlock *cough* or purchase *cough*. Better yet I’d actually like some sort of bonding system where maybe in certain gametypes you get small benefits the more you’ve “bonded” with your AI, which can maybe be done just through time spent, utilizing the AI, winning games, etc. I became inspired and wanted to imagine what each AI would look like as a human character: Circ: I’ve nicknamed her “Murder Mom”. She just has the most supportive mom personality ever but the thing she is supporting is SLAYING OTHER SPARTANS! I pictured a bit of a crossover between Agatha Harkness’s “friendly neighbor” persona and Dexter’s mom from Dexter’s Lab. Fret: If Circ is your supportive mother, Fret is your kid brother who looks up to you. I get this vibe that he’d probably rather be playing video games or reading a fantasy novel than helping Spartans win wargames, but he seems excited about helping you. His shape reminded me of game die and I wanted to incorporate that somehow so I gave him a D&D dungeon master look. Butler: I’ll admit this one was a little too obvious. He’s basically Alfred from Batman as an AI. Lumu: Eeek. Yeah… --- ## Fantasy URL: https://dairyboycomics.com/comic/fantasy/ What good timing that the one specifically Halo themed comic of this story arc landed right as Halo Infinite is having another flight! I’ll be streaming here regularly if you wanna watch me get my ass whooped: https://www.twitch.tv/dairyboy117 --- ## Real Life VR URL: https://dairyboycomics.com/comic/real-life-vr/ AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Now that I got that out of my system I’ve almost got Act 2 completely sketched out. Which isn’t great progress since Act 1 only has one more page after this lol but I can maintain the one comic a week thing just to keep things going while I roll out the new pages. Also who else is excited for Halo Infinite’s second flight next weekend?? --- ## Virtual Reality URL: https://dairyboycomics.com/comic/virtual-reality/ SO I realized due to an immense amount of travelling I did last week, I kind of forgot a momentous occasion. As of August 30th, the comic is 10 years old. I wish I could have done a little bit more to celebrate this but that I’m even getting comics out regularly at all is, quite frankly, nothing short of a miracle to me right now. But to honor 10 years of comic making, here is 10 things I like about my comic: One of my only real goals when I started it was to make a Halo comic that would be worthy of being shared by Microsoft with the Halo community. I accomplished that goal like 3 weeks into running the comic, and many times since I’ve made some awesome friends in the web-comic world, and while I may not talk to a lot of them anymore, I still treasure their friendship I’ve had to pleasure of getting to know a lot of my readers as well, and consider many of them to be close friends The original voice actor of Charlie Brown use to be a reader. Then he went to prison and I haven’t heard from him since <.< A veteran once told me about some difficulties he went through when he got home and how my comic helped him get through a shitty time and I think about that a lot Screwing around with HTML and CSS on my website is what started my career It’s allowed me to attend San Diego Comic Con, which eventually led to moving to San Diego I don’t consider myself a great artist or writer but I feel like the comic demonstrates improvement in both of those areas The change in my writing style has allowed me to observe my own growth as a person Working on the comic helped me survive and process several traumatic events in my own life I wonder, if I did a 10th anniversary poster and sold it on Etsy, would anyone be interested in buying it? I’m thinking I put every character who has ever been in the comic, even just background cameos, a la Simpsons character poster style. I likely wouldn’t be able to work on it until some time next year but still might be fun to make. --- ## Investigate URL: https://dairyboycomics.com/comic/investigate/ As you read this comic I am exploring the city of Chicago in search of deep dish pizza. Also not sure if you’ve seen the new helmets 343 is adding to Halo 3 but damn what a trip, it truly is the end of times. --- ## People’s Paradise URL: https://dairyboycomics.com/comic/peoples-paradise/ Sorry, I’ve been traveling a bit over the last week so posting the new comic’s has been difficult to keep up on. But I am bulk uploading the next few pages to keep us going steady for a few weeks at least. Speaking of, after this week we’ll be temporarily switching to the weekly schedule while I work on getting the buffer built back up again. ALSO I am aware the navigation is super broken on the site right now. I will do my best to fix it sometime hopefully soon, sorry for the shitty experience this brokenness may be causing ._. As for the comic, I’ve long waited for the right moment to bring this moment back into the main story and that moment is right meow. ---
