# All Out

So the Last of Us 2 came out tonight and to be honest, I have almost no interest in it. Which is surprising because the first game is one of my top 10 games of all time. You’d think I would be hyped for the next one, but I guess I’m just not.

I did end up seeing the leaked story, which didn’t honestly bother me. What was revealed in the leaks made sense, I wasn’t surprised or angered that it went that direction. Polygon’s review of the game actually confirmed what I was more afraid of, and nailed my thoughts on it.

The creative substance of the sequel aside, in my opinion the first game was perfection and its ending didn’t honestly need a follow up. The open ended nature of it was what capped it off to me. Normally in post apocalyptic stories dealing with themes surrounding love, love is this force for good that ultimately redeems and saves the broken world. But in Last of Us, love straight up doomed the world. So ending on that note, that everyone may well be [FRONK]ed for good due to an act of love, a selfish one but an act of love nonetheless, was fantastic to me. There is ONLY chaos that follows that up. I don’t need to see what form that chaos takes. It is inevitable, but not important to the story of The Last of Us.

So overall, there just isn’t a lot compelling me to play it. That said, I’ve heard nothing from friends yet, so I might be willing to give it a go if enough people I trust play it and say it’s worth it.

Until then I’ll just keep sitting here twiddling my thumbs until Halo Infinite comes out never.
