Virtual Reality
SO I realized due to an immense amount of travelling I did last week, I kind of forgot a momentous occasion. As of August 30th, the comic is 10 years old.
I wish I could have done a little bit more to celebrate this but that I’m even getting comics out regularly at all is, quite frankly, nothing short of a miracle to me right now.
But to honor 10 years of comic making, here is 10 things I like about my comic:
- One of my only real goals when I started it was to make a Halo comic that would be worthy of being shared by Microsoft with the Halo community. I accomplished that goal like 3 weeks into running the comic, and many times since
- I’ve made some awesome friends in the web-comic world, and while I may not talk to a lot of them anymore, I still treasure their friendship
- I’ve had to pleasure of getting to know a lot of my readers as well, and consider many of them to be close friends
- The original voice actor of Charlie Brown use to be a reader. Then he went to prison and I haven’t heard from him since <.<
- A veteran once told me about some difficulties he went through when he got home and how my comic helped him get through a shitty time and I think about that a lot
- Screwing around with HTML and CSS on my website is what started my career
- It’s allowed me to attend San Diego Comic Con, which eventually led to moving to San Diego
- I don’t consider myself a great artist or writer but I feel like the comic demonstrates improvement in both of those areas
- The change in my writing style has allowed me to observe my own growth as a person
- Working on the comic helped me survive and process several traumatic events in my own life
I wonder, if I did a 10th anniversary poster and sold it on Etsy, would anyone be interested in buying it? I’m thinking I put every character who has ever been in the comic, even just background cameos, a la Simpsons character poster style.
I likely wouldn’t be able to work on it until some time next year but still might be fun to make.
